Dancestors: Site & Story brings historical dance to life through site-specific performance.  We research the people, dances, stories, and social worlds connected to historic places, then create performances that respond directly to the architecture, landscape, and history of each site.

Rather than simply telling the story of a place, we embody it, using dance, music, movement, and storytelling to invite audiences into the past in a deeply physical and imaginative way.

Each Site & Story project is created in collaboration with a historic site, museum, archive, or cultural organization.  The result is a performance experience that can illuminate overlooked histories, animate spaces in unexpected ways, and offer audiences a new way of connecting with the people who lived, worked, gathered, and celebrated there.
